About this card

The Japanese virtual card is a prepaid card intended for merchants that bill in yen. It is listed with the BIN 180009, the first six digits of the card number, which tells merchants the card's issuer, network and type.

Card numbers starting with 1800 have historically belonged to the JCB network rather than Visa or Mastercard. We are confirming the network; until it appears in the table below, check that your merchant accepts the network shown in your card details.

What can you pay for with a yen card?

Where the merchant accepts prepaid cards on this network:

  • Japanese online stores priced in yen
  • Rail passes, hotels and tours booked with Japanese providers
  • Event and museum tickets sold online
  • Digital content stores, keeping to the account-region rules in our Nintendo Switch guide

Some Japanese merchants only accept cards issued in Japan, and some run strict 3-D Secure checks. Your account region on game and app stores must match where you actually live; a yen card does not change that.

For other currencies in the region, see the Korean card or the Taiwanese card.

How to get the Japanese virtual card

  • Step 1: Register an account and verify your email.
  • Step 2: Send crypto to the deposit address in your dashboard; network confirmation times depend on the coin, not on us.
  • Step 3: When your deposit is credited, choose this card in Browse Cards and pay from your balance.
  • Step 4: Open My Cards, tap Activation and follow the steps to receive your card number, expiry date, CVV and billing address.

Before you buy: confirm the merchant accepts prepaid cards on this network, check whether it needs 3-D Secure, and make sure the card's currency suits what you plan to pay. The card is prepaid, not credit, and is issued by a third-party partner, not by Gpayvcc. You are responsible for following the merchant's terms and your local laws.

You can see the total cost of each card on the Gpayvcc pricing table. For help with checkout problems, read the virtual card FAQ.

What does BIN 180009 mean?

The BIN is the first six digits of the card number. Merchants use it to identify the issuer, card network, country and whether the card is prepaid.

Can I use it on the Japanese Nintendo eShop?

Only if your account region is genuinely Japan and Nintendo accepts the card. The card does not change your account's region.

Will non-yen payments cost more?

Payments in other currencies are converted from yen and a fee may apply.
